Black Maca grows in the Peruvian Andes Mountains between 4000 and 4500m above sea level and has been used by Peruvian natives for centuries for its health and vitality boosting properties. The Maca plant is very hardy and grows in an extreme environment of intense cold, harsh winds, and powerful sunlight.
Black Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is the most powerful of the 3 types of Maca and is beneficial for recovery, energy, training, and is also known for its nootropic effects. Black maca contains greater concentrations of beneficial polyphenols than white and red maca.
Our Certified Organic Peruvian Black Maca Root powder contains a higher amounts of protein, selenium and bioactive substances like glucosinolates than the other types of Maca.
We source our Black Maca from the mountains of Peru where it is grown above 4200m in the clean mountain air. The Maca root is dried in the sun and then finely ground into a powder for ease of use.
