Cordyceps grows wild in the high mountain provinces in Tibet, China, and South America where it grows on the moth caterpillar species Hepialis aromoricanis. It has been used traditionally by the Tibetans and Chinese for centuries as a tonic herb and elixir. 

The amazing nutritional benefits of cordyceps mushroom was discovered when herders of goats, sheep, and yaks noticed that animals which consumed the Cordyceps gained energy, vigor and vitality. They then started to consume it themselves and found it to be of benefit for humans as well.  

Due to the high cost of wild cordyceps most commercial cordyceps is produced using an organic nutrient medium (organic glucose and peptone). This is also a more sustainable option and avoids taking to much of the cordyceps from the wild. 

Our Cordyceps 30:1 extract is extracted from the organically cultured Cordyceps fruit body which are extracted in a GMP certified facility and tested for purity and potency by HPLC after extraction. The extract has been standardized to contain 30% beta glucans.

The Cordyceps is grown over a 9-10 month period and is allowed to fruit for a full 6 months, this produces a Cordyceps fruit body with high concentrations of active compounds like Cordycepin. Some sellers are selling inferior Cordyceps which is only allowed to fruit for 45 days.
